Jin Shin Jyutsu is a time-honored healing art that involves gentle application of the hands on a person’s body to balance the vital energy of the whole person. This means rallying the body’s own healing mechanisms of mind, body, and spirit.
Vital energy is awakened by holding safety energy locks on each side of the body (similar to trigger points or acupressure points). In other languages, this energy is known as “chi,” “ki,” or “prana.” Patients report feeling profoundly relaxed immediately after a session. Jin Shin Jyutsu can be very effective for relieving anxiety, chronic or acute pain, fatigue, headaches, insomnia, and nausea; for lowering high blood pressure and aiding bowel function; before and after surgery to aid in healing, boosting immunity, and in conjunction with chemotherapy or radiation. The applications are endless!
Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions are 50-60 minutes in length and are performed with the client fully clothed. The practitioner takes an initial interview and does a “pulse listening” to check for any disharmony in the body. One of the greatest tools offered by Jin Shin Jyutsu is the self-help component. Clients are instructed to “jumper cable” specific points to release stress or energize the body – and to do this as often as necessary. This can be done in bed, waiting in a store line, or in the car.
